Portugal so far... April 18 - 19th
20 april 2022 - Luchthaven Portela, Portugal
.... after a late start from Alpiarça on Monday 18th, we went for essential kms... intending to get to our friends in Queluz... still had to handover a little gift to the owner of Pizzaria Buona Serra, from there we could get to Sintra, but it was getting late and with no pressure, we just drove, wondering where to park our "FiFi" which was so faitfull to us for thousands of kilometers hill up and down 5% to 6% she did it, since we left Schiedam (NL).
Arriving the Lisboa area, the more excited I was getting on the right road to Sintra IC19.
We entered Queluz, a satellite city 10kms from Lisboa, but with a beautiful Palace, where all mundial Monarchs or President's would spend their night(s) while doing their official visits.
Their Pizzaria "Buona Serra" is situated in Bairro do Chinelo (slang name for Neighbourhood of the Slipper); we parked a little on a cowboy way, but at night, with so much space 🤠 who would care, right?
Pizzaria Buona Serra - Queluz - Portugal
We got our little gift out and headed to their space, which was naturally closed, due to Easter Holidays. I called Joana, she was on her way and would send her Daddy. After 10 minutes Carlos popped-up, which was a great 👍🏼 seeing again, as he was one of the pioneers, which lived in Schiedam, back in the early 80-ties. During these years he was married by "The Glove"... in which the bride marries at their council (Portugal this case) and Carlos would marry at the Portuguese Consulate. Of course she would fly over to Holland and I would be his private driver, having a white creme Mercedes 220, the appearances where there and I played to impress his wife... it was hard to keep my role-playing this 45 minutes trip back home. Once she discovered the true, it was an hilarious revelation; in a few years to girls were born Catarina and Joana... and this named last one, is a blessing to all lost dogs and cats and finding new homes for them as much as possible. For her I carried a painting around, from catlover Jan Munter from Rotterdam, which had died in 2006. He was a close friend of Brigit Bardot, where he would paint her cats and the stray ones.
We had a marvelous time, spoiled with these home-made pizza's, you would lick your fingers off... in the meantime the local drums 🥁 did their work... Joana's mother came around and my friend and comedian Ana Arrebentinha, for whom I organized a show in Amsterdam, also popped-in! Well useless to mention we didn't move anymore from where we parked. We'll see next morning!
Tuesday early wakening by the litter truck's... but when we looked out of our windows the view was spectacular!
After breakfast and a coffee ☕ at a local café, we had to move to Sintra and find a spot at the sea-side, where Zoë would be on her own with the camper, as I have to fly back to Holland, for the production of Mariza's concerts in Amsterdam and Brussels.
We found a spot, very windy today 6 Beaufort, at Praia das Maçãs, Miradouro Mindelo....
while finishing the writing I still seated at Schiphol Airport, while the plings from Zoë entered, with beautiful evening pictures, which I'm glad to share with you all... and I'll return on the 22nd back to her.
Thanks for all your great comments!!! ❤🙏🏼
